What happens on the day

1. Prep: Dr. Evans numbs the tooth and prepares it for the crown.
2. Digital scan: Instead of messy impression trays, we take a quick digital scan of your tooth.
3. Design and milling: Your crown is designed on the computer and milled from a solid puck of zirconia in our office in about a couple of hours.
4. Placement: We check the fit and your bite, then permanently cement the crown in place.

Why zirconia?

Zirconia is one of the strongest materials used in dentistry. It resists chipping, handles heavy chewing, and is tooth-colored, so it blends in with the rest of your smile.

Does it hurt?

The tooth is numbed before we start, so you'll feel some pressure but not pain. Some patients notice mild sensitivity for a day or two afterward. Laughing gas is available if you get nervous at the dentist.

Is a crown covered by insurance?
